MYRTLE BEACH - Holly Hill Academy volleyball advanced on Friday to the SCISA Class A quarterfinals round at the state tournament being held at Myrtle Beach Sports Center.

The Lady Raiders (16-3 overall) will play defending state runner-up Mead Hall (undefeated in state tournament play) on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., as tournament play continues.

In their opening match-up, HHA beat Curtis Baptist 2-0, with set scores of 25-19 and 25-23. Maelee Troutman had 5 kills, 2 aces, 2 receptions, 1 block, while Katie Rohl had 5 kills, 25 receptions, Tara Bilton had 1 kill, 32 receptions, and Savannah Shuler had 3 kills, 2 aces, 9 receptions and 15 assists.

In the next round, HHA lost 2-0 to Mead Hall, by set scores of 25-9 and 25-11. Troutman had 4 kills, 5 receptions and 3 blocks, Bilton had 1 kill, 1 ace, 36 receptions and 1 assist.

HHA then lost to Montessori of Anderson, but was informed afterward that they had won by forfeit. Troutman had 8 kills, 6 receptions, 4 blocks, and 1 assist, while Rohl had 5 kills and 20 receptions, and Bilton had an ace, 36 receptions and 1 assist.

MYRTLE BEACH - The Orangeburg Prep volleyball team dropped Class 3A opening match-ups in the SCISA State Tournament to Heathwood Hall and First Baptist on Friday at the Myrtle Beach Sports Sports Center.

OPS lost 2-1 to Heathwood Hall, by set scores of 25-18, 10-25 and 25-19.

In loser's bracket play, the Lady Indians fell 2-0, by set scores of 25-18 and 25-21.

Combined statistics for OPS through Friday's two contests included Amber White with 16 kills, 2 aces, 22 digs, Dallas Stoller with 7 kills, 4 blocks, 8 digs, Mary Catherine Williams with 6 kills and 18 digs, and Lindsay Salley with 5 aces and 34 assists.

C4 Volleyball Club

tryouts set

The C4 Volleyball Club will hold tryouts for girls ages 14 and under, and for girls ages 15 and up on Sunday, Nov. 4 at the Branchville High School gym.

Tryouts for 14 and under girls will be held from 2-4 p.m., while tryouts for girls ages 15 and up will be held from 5-7 p.m. There is a $30 tryout fee required for each girl.

The tournament season for the team will run from January into April, with tournaments about every other weekend in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.
