The Bamberg-Ehrhardt golf team took an 11-stroke home win against Orangeburg Prep on Thursday at Bamberg Golf & Sports Club.

The Red Raiders got a 38 from Keith Darnell, while Corey Antley was the low scorer for OPS with a 39.

OPS will play host to Calhoun Academy and Laurence Manning in a match on Tuesday.

The Lady Raiders picked up a win on Thursday, with Hannah Reeves pitching for the win in the circle, going all 6 innings and striking out 7. 

Leading hitters for the Lady Raiders were Emma Moorer, 3-for-4, 2 RBI, Ashlynn Nelson, 2-for-3, 2 RBI, and Reeves, 2-for-3, RBI.

Dorchester (3-0 overall, 3-0 in region) will host Andrew Jackson Academy on Tuesday.

CORDOVA - Austin Sandifer pitched all five innings for the win on Thursday in the season-opener for the Cougars at home against the Red Raiders

Sandifer struck out 5 batters, while also giving up 5 hits.

Leading hitters for Edisto were Brandon Antley, 3-for-3, walk, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, 3 runs, Dawson Chavis and Wesley Brown, an RBI each, and Benjamin Hughes, 2-for-2, walk, 2 runs.

The Cougars (1-0) play host to Branchville on Friday. The Red Raiders (1-1) play host to Silver Bluff on Friday.

The Panthers picked up a non-region win in the home-opener for the Bruins on Wednesday.

Prince Strobert shouldered the loss on the mound for O-W (1-1 record).

Leading hitters for the Bruins were Daylon Boone, 1-for-2, 2 runs scored, Esa Terry, 2 walks, 2 runs scored, Seve Mack, 1-for-4, and Timothy Junious, 1-for-1.

O-W will open Region 5-4A play on Friday at 6:30 p.m., when it hosts A.C. Flora.

BARNWELL - The Saints lost their season-opener on Wednesday after leading 2-0 early at Barnwell.

The Warhorses plated 4 runs (3 earned) in the sixth inning to pick up the Region 5-2A win, including help from an infield hit that connected with the base umpire.

Calhoun County (0-1) loaded the bases with one out in the top of the seventh inning, but couldn't plate a run to mount a comeback. The Saints stranded runners on base in scoring position in all but one inning of the contest.

Daniel Williams shouldered the loss, pitching 5 innings and allowing 4 walks, 2 hits and 3 earned runs, despite 5 strikeouts.

Leading Calhoun County in hitting was Alex Tapia, 1-for-2, with an RBI.

The Saints host Barnwell on Friday in the team's home-opening contest at 7 p.m. CCHS principal Barry Charley will throw out the opening pitch.

BAMBERG - The Bamberg-Ehrhardt varsity team shut out Calhoun County, 3-0, on Thursday.

The Red Raiders were led by Hunter Bridges (2 goals, 1 assist) and Alex Ahlin (1 goal, 1 assist). Daze Hoffman added an assist as well.

B-E is now 3-0 and will travel to Branchville on Friday to play the Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m.

BAMBERG - Bamberg-Ehrhardt got a goal from Frank Hyland to take a 1-0 win against visiting Calhoun County on Thursday.

The JV Red Raiders are now 1-2 and will play at Batesburg-Leesville on Tuesday.
