Lydia shoots for DA

Lydia Hofstetter (11) of Dorchester Academy goes up for a shot during SCISA Class A state quarterfinal action on Monday night at Wilson Hall in Sumter.

SUMTER - The Dorchester Academy girls basketball team dropped a 57-45 SCISA Class A state quarterfinal game against Curtis Baptist on Monday at Wilson Hall.

DA (17-7 record) was led by Elizabeth Huff with 10 points, 7 rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot, along with Savanna Shelton with 10 points, 6 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Lydia Hofstetter chipped in 8 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.

The Lady Crusaders (21-3 record) were led by Jordan Wolfe with 20 points, Shania Robinson with 15 points and Dynazsa Robinson with a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. 

The Lady Raiders got behind by a 17-9 score in the first quarter and trailed 26-16 at the half.

DA made just 18 of 57 field goal attempts, while going 8-for-20 at the free throw line. But the Lady Raiders outrebounded the Lady Crusaders by a 57-27 count.


Clarendon Hall boys advance

SUMTER - The Clarendon Hall varsity boys basketball team took an opening-round win in the SCISA Class A State Tournament on Saturday, topping Laurens Academy, 61-57, at Wilson Hall.

The Saints jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and never trailed from there. Zyan Gilmore led four Saints players in double figures with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Tyrese Mitchum added 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Kylic Horton added 15 points. Dylan Way finished with 12 points.

The Saints will play Covenant Classical Christian of Columbia in a 6:30 p.m. state semifinal game on Tuesday at Wilson Hall.
