Calhoun Academy defeated Jefferson Davis Academy 3-0 Tuesday with set scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-19.

Calhoun Academy next plays Thomas Sumter at 4 p.m. Thursday at home.

Dorchester Academy 3

John Paul II 1

Dorchester Academy took a 3-1 win against John Paul II on Monday, with set scores of 25-11, 26-28, 25-15 and 25-22.

Lydia Hofstetter led the team with 5 kills, 4 aces, 2 blocks and 2 digs. Savanna Varn had 5 kills, 2 aces, a block and 4 digs. Saylor Judy led the team with 17 assists and 3 aces.

DA is now 5-1 overall and 1-0 in region play. The Lady Raiders will play host to Colleton Prep on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Branchville tops O-W

and Battery Creek 2-1

The Branchville Yellow Jackets (8-9-1, 2-0) defeated Orangeburg-Wilkinson (2-1, 18-25, 25-19, 25-23) and Battery Creek (2-1, 23-25, 25-20, 25-11). The Jackets were lead by Haley Hess 49 digs and 55 receptions; Carley Kinard 18 digs, 27 Receptions, 17 kills and 3 aces; Abby Funchess with 38 assists, 6 kills and 22 digs; Kelsey Kinard with 13 kills and 3 blocks; Olivia Banks with 7 kills and 3 aces; and Brianna Wiles with 9 kills and 3 aces.

Branchville is next in action Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. home against Colleton County and Woodland.

Holly Hill Academy 3

ST. GEORGE - Holly Hill Academy won 3-2 on Tuesday against Dorchester Academy, with set scores of 25-21, 25-12, 15-25, 15-25 and 15-10.

Leading the way for HHA was Halle Mott with 12 kills and 16 digs, Hannah Mott with 7 kills, 2 blocks and 23 service points, Brooke Fennessy with 8 kills, 4 aces and 12 digs, Madison Steele with 7 kills and 2 blocks, Abby Montgomery with 2 kills and a block, and Karsyn Smoak with 27 assists and 2 aces.

DA was led by Savanna Varn with 12 kills, 3 aces, and 4 digs, Lydia Hofstetter with 5 kills, 2 blocks and 10 digs, and Saylor Judy with 25 assists.

HHA will play at St. John's on Thursday at 5 p.m.

DA will play at home on Thursday against Colleton Prep at 5 p.m.

ST. GEORGE - Dorchester Academy took a 2-0 home win against Holly Hill Academy on Tuesday, with set scores of 25-10 and 25-17.

For HHA, Taylor Weathers had 3 aces and 3 kills, while Kaley Bell added 2 aces and 3 digs.

Orangeburg Prep 2

The Orangeburg Prep Junior Varsity volleyball team defeated Patrick Henry in two sets Tuesday 25-17 and 25-15. Offensively, OP was led by Anna Beth Lambrecht with 19 points, 14 aces and two assists; Campbell Delaney had 10 points, 5 aces and 1 kill; Lauryn Williams had 3 kills; while Abby Lyn Pantaleon and Anna Katherine Evatt had 2 kills each. OP JV will host Thomas Sumter at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.

O-W 2, Branchville 1

O-W 2, Battery Creek 0

Orangeburg-Wilkinson Junior Varsity volleyball team played a tri-match at home Tuesday against Branchville and Battery Creek. The Bruinettes defeated Branchville 21-25, 25-17 and 25-17. O-W also defeated Battery Creek 25-18 and 25-18.

O-W will next play at Lakewood High School Sept. 17. 

B-TEAM VOLLEYBALL

CEMS 3, Clark Middle 0

Carver-Edisto Middle School defeated Clark Middle School on Monday, taking all three sets to move to 1-1 on the season.

Leading the Cougars were Jasmyn Stewart, Paris Jennings and Jamequa Bailem-Odom.

The Lady Cougars will play at Howard Middle School at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

VARSITY TENNIS

Wilson Hall blanks OP 9-0

Orangeburg Prep was blanked in singles and doubles on Tuesday in a match played at Wilson Hall.
