SCSU strength coaches take positions at James Madison
South Carolina State head strength and conditioning coach John Williams, Jr. and associate head coach Markus James have each accepted new positions at James Madison University in Harrisburg, Virginia.
Williams Jr. returned to the Bulldog staff in 2013 after a brief stint at the University of Kansas in a similar position, where he was in charge of the overall strength and conditioning athletic programs.
James, a native of Hampton, Virginia, was a standout defensive lineman for the Bulldogs from 2006-09, where he was a part of two MEAC championship teams in 2008 and 2009. He earned All-MEAC second team honors as a senior. He joined the strength & conditioning staff in 2010, before later being promoted to assistant (2011-12) and then associate head strength & condition coach. He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in political science in 2010 from South Carolina State.
Claflin baseball hosts Kentucky Wesleyan State in three-game series
The Claflin University Panthers baseball team will host Kentucky Wesleyan College in a non-conference three game series this weekend, Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 27-28.
First pitch for Saturday’s doubleheader will be at noon. Sunday’s single game will have a first pitch of 1 p.m.
