The South Carolina Gamecock women's basketball team, the defending national championship program, was announced as a No. 2 seed in the Albany Regional on Monday night during the ESPN Selection Show.
The Gamecocks (26-6 record) will play host to North Carolina A&T (23-8 record) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in a game televised on ESPN2, in NCAA Tournament first-round action.
North Carolina A&T, fresh off winning its second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) tournament title in three seasons, will head to Columbia to play South Carolina in Colonial Life Arena.
Connecticut (32-0 record) is the No. 1 seed in the Albany Regional.
No. 7 seed California (21-10 record) will play No. 10 seed Virginia (18-13 record) in the 5 p.m. game at Colonial Life Arena on ESPN2 on Friday.
