WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The South Carolina State track and field teams combined for five firsts and a total of twenty top 10 finishes at the UNC-Greensboro Early Bird Duals at the JDL Fast track Stadium and Arena Sunday.
In addition, one performer established a school record and four others personal marks at the event, the 2017-2018 opening meet for SC State and Coach Tim Langford, who called the performance the strongest start of a campaign during his five-year tenure.
Long jumper Breanna Tyler took first in the long jump with a personal record leap of 5.63m (18-05.75 ft.), hurdler Moses Kennedy was first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.22, and sprinter Tyrell Richard captured both the 60 meters with a time of 6.83, and the 200 meters with a clocking of 21.53, both personal records with the latter a new indoor school record. He eclipsed the previous school record of 21.58, set last season by Demek Kemp at the East Tennessee State Invitational.
Also finishing first was the Bulldog 4x400-meter relay team of Dyrell Kinloch, Treshawn Hardy, Tyrell Richard and Joshua Martin with a time of 3:21.44.
