A.J. Lawson hasn't played in a little over two weeks, but the Gamecocks are putting a plan in place for his return this week for the SEC Tournament.
The freshman has been doing some work in practice coming off an ankle sprain and is expected to make progress before a decision gets made on if he'll be able to play this weekend.
“AJ’s been doing more and more every day. We’re going to make a decision on him Thursday after our practice out there,” Frank Martin said Tuesday. “What we did today was not live competition against each other but he did the running. Tomorrow he’s going to participate in more stuff then Thursday the plans to try and turn him loose and see what happens here.”
Lawson's missed the last three games after spraining his ankle against Alabama and started rehabbing last week.
The Gamecocks are the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will play one of three teams—Auburn, Missouri or Georgia—in the second game of Friday's action, which is scheduled to take place 25 minutes after the game at 1 p.m. starts.
