Kaylee Kizer led the way for CA with 9 aces and 3 kills, while Rebekah Haigler added 4 aces and 7 kills, Reagan Kizer added 3 kills, and Haigler, Reagan Kizer and Blakely Kingsmore each had a block.

The Lady Cavs will host Patrick Henry on Wednesday at 5 p.m. for senior night.

Leading the way for the Lady Raiders was Julianna Grooms with 4 aces and 3 kills, Abby Montgomery with 5 kills, Karsyn Smoak with 6 kills, 20 assists and 3 aces, Halle Mott with 5 kills and 3 aces, Hannah Mott with 6 kills, Brooke Fennessy with 4 kills and 2 aces, and Lily McWaters with 12 digs and 6 assists.

Holly Hill Academy will play host to St. John's Christian on Thursday.

Branchville (23-10-1 overall, 8-0 in winning Region 5A title) defeated the Wade Hampton Red Devils in straight sets at home on Tuesday, with set scores of 26-24, 25-23 and 25-23.

Branchville will play host to Pinewood Prep and Orangeburg-Wilkinson in a tri-match for senior night on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Dorchester Academy won in straight sets against visiting Clarendon Hall on Tuesday, with set scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-17.

Savanna Varn led DA with 6 aces, 2 kills and 2 assists, while Grace Judy added 3 aces and 3 digs.

The Lady Raiders are 12-6 overall and 7-3 in region play.

DA will play at Colleton Prep on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Offensively, Anna Brake Plummer had 11 points, 6 aces, and a kill, Campbell Delaney had 7 points, 4 aces, and a kill, and Katherine Lambrecht had 6 points and an ace.

Orangeburg Prep will host Ben Lippen School Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson 2

Orangeburg-Wilkinson took a 2-0 home win against Dreher on Tuesday, with set scores of 25-18 and 25-20.

O-W was led by Mykah Sanders with 9 points, 5 assists, Kaitlin Ham with 5 points, 9 assists and a kill, Imani Mitchell and Larkyn Jones with 4 points apiece, Jasmine Anderson with 3 assists and a kill.

O-W will play a tri-match on Wednesday in Branchville against the host Yellow Jackets and Pinewood Prep.

The JV Jackets were led by Emily Heape with 6 aces, 7 receptions and 5 kills, Julia Smith with 12 receptions and 18 digs, and Riley Shuler with 11 assists, 2 kills and 10 digs.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL

Claflin to play at Livingstone

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Claflin University volleyball team will take to the road on Wednesday (Oct. 9) for a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Southern Division match against Livingstone College at 6 p.m.

Claflin will enter the divisional contest fresh off two impressive wins at last weekend’s CIAA Round-up at home. In the two-day event, the Lady Panthers rolled past Bowie State University 3-1 followed by a straight win over Elizabeth City State University 3-0.

The successful weekend saw Claflin improve its season record to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in conference.

During the round up, the Lady Panthers received an outstanding performance from Jala Roberts, who compiled 27 kills in the two matches. For the season, Roberts has produced 95 kills to lead the team in that department.

Léah Wellington collected 31 assists in the two matches, giving her 149 on the season.

Sadaiya Edouard, who had nine blocks in the over the weekend, leads the team with 31 total on the season. Trinity Fierce tops the defensive side with 106 digs for the season.

For Livingstone, the Lady Blue Bears are 4-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play after posting a straight set 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-18) victory over Bowie State during the Roundup.

Team leaders for Livingstone include Victoria Onozie, whose contributed 54 and Bethaney Williams with 69 digs. Marlana Jackson has collected 20 blocks, while Dekiya Wilson-Thomas have dished out 43 assists.

In last year’s two meetings, Livingstone blanked Claflin 3-0 on both occasions, winning (25-20, 25-21, 25-16) at home and (25-20, 25-16, 25-16) in Orangeburg.

Following the Livingstone contest, Claflin will travel to Johnson C. Smith University on Saturday (Oct. 12) before hosting Shaw University on Dig Pink Night on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Claflin.

Clemson wins Jack

Nicklaus Match Play

Colby Patton, Zack Gordon and Turk Pettit all won matches, and Kyle Cottam clinched the team victory with a tie in the last match on the course, as 14th ranked Clemson defeated seventh-ranked Duke 3.5-2.5 in the championship of the Jack Nicklaus Match Play Invitational at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio on Tuesday.

It marked the second straight year Clemson had at least a share of the Jack Nicklaus Invitational title, as Clemson was co-champion with Georgia Tech last year when the final day was rained out.

It was the 78th career victory for Clemson Head Coach Larry Penley, but just his second in a match play tournament.
