CORDOVA – The Cougars won their first homecoming game in five seasons on Friday, taking a 46-6 win against the Hornets of C.A. Johnson.

Edisto (3-1) got things started with Dawn Muller running the opening kickoff back to the Hornets' 30-yard line. Two plays later Jayquan Ryant hit Cadon Moore on an 18-yard touchdown pass, with Thomas Bailey adding the PAT kick.

Jaleen Green then intercepted a C.A. Johnson' pass and returned it 55 yards for a score.

From there, Hikeem "Hulk" Elmore carried the ball 19 times for 160 yards and 3 Edisto touchdowns.

Ryant added a 32-yard touchdown pass to Muller and a 27-yard touchdown pass to Elmore.

The Cougars defense played well, led by Moore with 3 interceptions, Xavier Govan with 8 tackles, Keron Barr with 9 tackles, Rayquan Ryant with 6 tackles and an interception, and Shakel Williams with 4 tackles and a sack.

The Cougars ended the scoring when 5-foot-11, 345-pound fullback John Fine scored on a 5-yard run.

The Cougars host Strom Thurmond next Friday, to open Region 5-3A play.

Lake Marion 16

SANTEE – The Gators got a win at home on Friday, topping the Trojans by 8 points.

Lake Marion was led by Mahari Cuyler with 115 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Tymell Grant added 133 all-purpose yards for the Gators, along with hauling in an interception.

On defense, Lake Marion was led by Tyfari Stokes with 7 tackles, including 2 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler 50

ESTILL – The Trojans (1-3) picked up a non-region road win on Friday, getting their first victory of the season by a 50-7 score. 

Leading the way for the Hunter-Kinard-Tyler offense was Brian Youmans with 4 receptions for 114 yards and 3 touchdowns, along with Kaeshawn Shuler with 10 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown, and Arquan Edwards with 14 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Leading the Trojans on defense was Jerrious Coleman with 15 solo tackles and Jamario James with 12 solo tackles.

H-K-T opens Region 3-A play next Friday at home against Blackville-Hilda.

Laurens Academy 52

Calhoun Academy 32

LAURENS – Calhoun Academy lost to Laurens Academy 52-32, dropping to 1-4 and 0-1 in Region play.

Matt Layton led Calhoun Academy’s offense with 46 carries for 332 yards, with 3 rushing TD's and he converted three 2-point conversions. Layton hit Seth Tyson on a 7 yard TD pass and then hit Evan Inabinet for the two point conversion. Tyson also had 8 carries for 60 yards.

Inabinet led the defense with 7 tackles while Bates Felder had 5. Layton had an interception.

CA plays at home next week against Wardlaw.

Denmark-Olar 46

North 18

NORTH – Denmark-Olar took a 46-18 win over North on Friday.

Dentel Nelson led the Vikings (3-1 record) to victory with 3 interceptions returned for 156 yards and one touchdown, along with 6 tackles and 3 pass breakups.

Keyshawn McMillan added 12 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown, along with 4 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles, including 4 tackles for a loss, 3 of which were sacks.

Denmark-Olar plays host to Ridge Spring-Monetta next Friday.

Andrew Jackson Academy 64

ESTILL – Andrew Jackson Academy (4-0) extended the state’s longest active win streak to 41 with a road victory on Friday night.

Holly Hill Academy 18

Cathedral Christian Academy 12

NORTH CHARLESTON – Holly Hill edged out a win over Cathedral with a score of 18-12 on Friday.

The Raiders ran for 135 total yards, led by Zach Pelloni with 58 yards, Orsaya Johnson, 31 yards; and Sam Montgomery with 67 Yards and a touchdown.

The Raiders threw for 148 yards. Crawford Thomas threw for 33 yards, and Marion Breland threw for 115 yards and a touchdown. Receiving yards: Breland 33 yards, Harley Watkins 58 yards, Sam Montgomery 57 yards, TD.

Leading HHA in tackles was Sam Montgomery with 10, Orsaya Johnson and Zach Pelloni with 8, Jackson Canaday with 7, Ramsey Norris, 6; Harley Watkins, 5; Marion Breland and Perrin Breland with 4 each. Sam Montgomery and Marion Breland both had interceptions.

Holly Hill Academy plays Patrick Henry next Friday.

Jefferson Davis Academy 46

BLACKVILLE – Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders moved their record to 5-1 (2-0) Friday night by defeating Tri-Academy 46-0.

Offensively, the Raiders were led by Jimmy Bozard who had 12 carries for 242 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also return the opening kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown. Nick Darnell was 2-3 passing for 69 yards and 2 touchdowns, he also had 5 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown.

The Raiders defense was led by Mitchell Webster with 6 tackles and Tony Hernandez with 6 and 2 sacks.

The Raiders are back in action next Friday in Batesburg to face WW King.

Clarendon Hall 44

WINNSBORO – Clarendon Hall defeated Richard Winn 44-17 on Friday.

Clarendon Hall was led to victory by Tyrese Mitchum with 22 carries, 322 yards and 4 touchdowns; and Zyan Gilmore with 10 tackles, 2 interceptions. Wells Robinson had 13 tackles, Bobby Ashba had 10 tackles. Josh Black had 1 passing touchdown and 1 rushing touchdown. Kylic Horton added a 20-yard receiving touchdown.

The Saints are now 4-0 and play host to Laurens Academy next Friday.

Orangeburg Prep improved their overall record to 3-1 with 36-0 win over Porter Gaud on Thursday.

Blake Croft scored 3 touchdowns; two on offense and one on a 55-yard interception return. Austin Hall added a score with a 45-yard touchdown reception from Jody Gillam. Brayden Gramling scored on a 6-yard run.

The Indians will play next Thursday at home against Laurence Manning.
