MULLINS - It took one of the most exciting plays in Bamberg-Ehrhardt football history to get the final points for a 20-16 win at Mullins in the first round of SCHSL Class 2A playoffs on Friday.

B-E's Treyton Still threw a backward pass to Bryce Chandler, who then threw a forward pass on a screen back to Still, who then lateraled the ball on a hook and ladder set-up to tailback Kavion Tyler who ran it 30 yards into the end zone as time expired for the Red Raiders' win.

B-E advanced to play at Timberland in St. Stephen next Friday at 7:30 p.m. in second-round action.

Mullins' took a 16-14 lead on a Marcus Chandler two-point conversion run after Demaurii Platt scored from the two yards out late in the fourth quarter.

Alim Leggette scored a touchdown and Jahaven Phillips added a two-point conversion for Mullins.

The Auctioneers finished the season at 7-4.

Calhoun Academy 20

EHRHARDT - Andrew Jackson Academy moved to 10-0 with a first-round SCISA 8-man playoff win against Calhoun Academy on Friday at home.

Jonathan Schaffer led the Confederates with 16 carries for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bug Brunson added 9 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown. Tucker Cook added 2 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown.

OP Indians get 19-14 playoff win over Lee Academy

Colyn Peek was 6 for 6 passing for 94 yards and a touchdown for AJA, while Bryce Waltz had 57 yards receiving, Chandler Hayden had 33 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Defensively, the home team was led by Schaffer with 12 tackles, Adam Creswell with 11 tackles, Trey Pulaski with 10 tackles, Kevin Barnes with 5 tackles, and both Brunson and Chase Carson each had 4 tackles.

Matt Layton was 21 of 34 passing for CA for 207 yards and 3 touchdowns. Josh Black had 8 receptions for 44 yards including a 4-yard touchdown reception. Andrew Tucker had 3 receptions for 29 yards including a 5-yard touchdown reception. Kade Strickland caught a 4-yard touchdown reception. Evan Inabinet had 4 receptions for 78 yards and a 2-point conversion reception. Bates Felder had 7 receptions for 60 yards.

Defensively for CA, Evan Inabinet had 7 tackles, Hunter Warren had 6 tackles, including one for a loss and a quarterback sack, Lane Noe had 7 tackles, and Blake Edmunds had 5 tackles and a fumble recovery.

CA finished the season with a 3-7 record.

AJA will play at home next Friday against Palmetto Christian at 7:30 p.m.

Wade Hampton 42

HAMPTON - Edisto's first season under the leadership of head coach Preston Deaver finished with a 6-5 record on Friday, after a 42-13 loss at Wade Hampton.

The host Red Devils moved to 10-1 on the season and advance to second-round play next Friday.

Wade Hampton scored 3 touchdowns in the opening quarter, on a 3-yard run, a 3-yard pass and a 25-yard run.

The home team then added a 4-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, along with a 10-yard touchdown run.

With 4:41 left in the first half, Wade Hampton added a 16-yard touchdown run to go up 42-0.

Edisto then added its first score in the third quarter, on a 2-yard touchdown run by quarterback J.J. Nimmons. Bailey Files added the PAT.

The Cougars added a second score in the fourth quarter, as Nimmons connected with Franklin Winds on a 5-yard touchdown pass. The PAT was blocked.

Nimmons rushed for 25 yards, and a touchdown, while Troy Guest rushed for 25 yards. Winds had 2 receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown, while Dawn Muller had 4 receptions for 77 yards, and Files had a reception for 35 yards.

Edisto was led on defense by Xavier Govan with 6 tackles, and Dillon Williams with a fumble recovery.

Edisto finished the season with a 6-5 record.

JOHNS ISLAND - The Bethune-Bowman Mohawks ended their season with a 6-0 loss in the first round of SCHSL Class A playoffs on Friday at St. John's.

The Islanders moved to 4-6 on the season and to play at Green Sea Floyds in the second round next Friday.

Bethune-Bowman finished the season with a 2-9 record.

Holly Hill Academy 14

WINNSBORO - Holly Hill Academy lost 38-14 at Richard Winn Academy on Friday in the first round of SCISA 8-man playoffs, finishing the Raiders' season with a 5-5 record.

The Raiders were led by Zach Pelloni with 81 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, Marion Breland with 48 rushing yards, and Tyler Wright with 73 rushing yards.

Tyler Wright led the HHA defense with 9 tackles, while Harley Watkins added 5 tackles, Marion Breland added 5 tackles, and Perrin Breland added 5 tackles.
