BASKETBALL

OPS 56, FCS 54

The Orangeburg Prep Indians concluded the 2018-2019 regular season by defeating Florence Christian School by a score of 56-54 on Thursday night.

Leading the Indians were Timothy Junious with 20 points, Benjamin Davis with 14 points, A.J. Tolbert with 8 points, Ian Scott with 6 points, Will Shaw with 4 points, and Evan Lambrecht and Brison Ardis with 2 points apiece.

OP will travel to the Sumter Exhibition Center to play Laurence Manning in a region tournament game at 5 p.m. on Monday.

Edisto 58, Swansea 41

CORDOVA – The Edisto Cougars finished Region 5-3A play on Thursday with a home win against the Swansea Tigers.

Edisto was led by Dawn Muller with 15 points and 9 rebounds, and Chris Grant with a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Jabarie Williams added 8 points.

K. Coates led the Tigers with 15 points.

Edisto (18-4 overall, 6-2 in region) will host a first-round playoff game on Tuesday against either Bishop England or Hanahan.

H-K-T 73, RS-M 61

NEESES – The Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans defeated the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans by a score of 73-61 on Thursday.

Leading the H-K-T Trojans were Marlow Gilmore, who scored his 1,800th career point, with 26 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks; I’rek Hartwell with 18 points and 7 rebounds, and Jamal Edwards with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

H-K-T will travel to North to play in a region tiebreaker game on Friday.

D-O 63, North 61

NORTH – Denmark-Olar Vikings, the Region 3-A champs, defeated the North Eagles by a score of 63-61 on Thursday.

Leading the Vikings were Harold Johnson Jr. with 21 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists; Malik Palmer with 15 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 assists; Kevin Middleton with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists; Tony Nimmons with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists; Trey Wiggins with 10 rebounds and Larry Sanders with 5 rebounds.

D-O (16-10, 11-3) will host a playoff game on Friday, February 15. 

DA 58, CA 50

ST. MATTHEWS – The Dorchester Academy Raiders defeated the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers by a score of 58-50 on Thursday.

Leading the Raiders were Rhett Mizzell with 20 points and 13 rebounds, Chase Way with 16 points and 6 rebounds, Colby Weeks with 8 points and 9 rebounds, and Corey Judy with 10 rebounds.

BASKETBALL

DA 52, CA 39

ST. MATTHEWS -- The Calhoun Academy Lady Cavaliers lost to Dorchester Academy by a score of 52-39 on Thursday.

CA was led by Rebekah Haigler with 16 points, Bari Arden Arant with 8 points, and Rachel Ulmer with 6 points.

The DA Lady Raiders were led by Elizabeth Huff with 18 points, and Lydia Hofstetter with 16 points. Senior Elizabeth Huff scored her 1,000th point.

CA (11-9, 3-4) will host Palmetto Christian on Monday at 6 p.m.

DA will host St. John's Friday night in a region matchup.

FCS 56, OPS 34

Orangeburg Prep lost to Florence Christian by a score of 56-34 on Thursday.

Leading the Indians were Marlee Robinson with 15 points, Madison Garrick with 8 points, Mary Stack Summers with 4 points, and Alyson Hay with 3.

Orangeburg Prep will play host to Laurence Manning on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. in the first round of the region tournament.

Swansea 65, Edisto 20

CORDOVA – Clemson commitment Danae McNeal scored a game-high 27 points on Thursday to lead the Swansea Lady Tigers to a Region 5-3A win at Edisto.

It was the last game of the regular season for both teams.

The Lady Cougars were led by L. Simmons with 7 points.

L. Robinson added 22 points for Swansea.

The two teams will play again in a region tiebreaker in Swansea on Friday at 6 p.m.

North 57, D-O 12

NORTH – The North Lady Eagles defeated the Denmark-Olar Vikings by a score of 57-12 on Thursday.

Leading the Eagles were seniors Jessmen Darby with 10 points and Ziniya Pettus with 23 points; and Zoe Hawkins with 13 points.

JV BOYS

BASKETBALL

FC 43, OP 33

Orangeburg Prep lost to Florence Christian School by a score of 43-33 at home on Thursday.

Leading the Indians were Prusher Bair with 11 points, Stokes Kirby with 10 points and 4 blocks, Peyton Inabinet with 9 points, McCullough Mims with 2 points, and Chase Williams with a free throw.

This was OP’s final game of the regular season.

Edisto 53, Swansea 16

CORDOVA – The Edisto Cougars defeated the Swansea Tigers by a score of 53-16 on Thursday.

Leading the Cougars were J.J. Simons with 12 points, and Jaquas Goodwin with 11 points.

The Tigers were led by J. Smith with 6 points.

Edisto completed a second consecutive undefeated season with a 13-0 record.

O-W 44, L. Richland 36

HOPKINS – The Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins defeated the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets by a score of 44-36 on Thursday night.

Leading the Bruins were Daylen Buckley with 13 points, and 4 rebounds, Ethan Leaf with 11 points, Donovan White with 6 points, and Keondre Dickson with 5 rebounds.

O-W finishes 15-2 overall and 9-1 in the region.

DA 32, CA 24

ST. MATTHEWS – The Dorchester Academy Raiders defeated the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers by a score of 32-24 on Thursday.

Leading the Raiders were Hunter Hartzog and Ben Singletary with 9 points apiece.

DA will host St. John's Friday night.

BASKETBALL

OPS 34, FCS 12

Orangeburg Prep defeated Florence Christian by a score of 34-12 on Thursday.

Leading the JV Lady Indians were Cate Fogle with 12 points, Campbell Delaney with 8, Anna Beth Lambrecht with 6, and Isabelle Waddell and Ryn Grubbs with 4 apiece.

OP will host Trinity-Byrnes at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday for the first round of the Region tournament.

DA 36, CA 22

ST. MATTHEWS -- Calhoun Academy lost to Dorchester Academy by a score of 36-22 on Thursday.

Reagan Kizer led the JV Lady Cavaliers with 8 points.

Leading the JV Lady Raiders were Abigail Weathers with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals; and Abigail Holmes with 6 points and 6 rebounds.

CA will play Northside on Friday at 6 p.m.

DA will host Patrick Henry on Tuesday.
