DA 17, SJCA 2

Payton Jackson got the start for Dorchester Academy and pitched all 3 innings, picking up 3 strikeouts and the quick win for the Lady Raiders against St. John's Christian Academy on Tuesday.

Savanna Varn and Grace Judy led the Lady Raiders at the plate, both going 3-for-3.

DA improved to 4-0 overall (3-0 in region play) and will travel to play Jefferson Davis Academy on Thursday.


DA 8, SJCA 3

Chase Way pitched a complete game to get the win for Dorchester Academy on Tuesday in an 8-3 game against St. John's Christian Academy.

Dorchester improved to 5-0 overall (5-0 in region) and will travel to play Jefferson Davis Academy on Thursday.

North 14, W-Salley 11

The North Eagles picked up another win on Wednesday, with Andrew Miller pitching 5 innings and striking out 7 Wagener-Salley War Eagles batters to notch the victory on the mound.

Doug Cook come on to pitch the last 2 innings for North.

On offense, the Eagles were led by Doug Cook 3-for-4, Casey Robinson 2-for-3, along with Andrew Miller, Phyllip Marbut, Jarrett Sturkie, Thomas Hammond, and Ricky Haigler who each had key hits with runners on base.

Defensively, Thomas Hammond made two remarkable catches in center field for North, which is 4-0 overall (3-0 in Region 3-A) and will host Williston-Elko Friday at 5:30 p.m.


OP 5, PCA 1

Orangeburg Prep defeated Palmetto Christian Academy Tuesday night in a 5-1 game to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Forrest Sutcliffe (2-0) picked up the win, pitching 4 innings while striking out 6 and giving up a run. Jonathan Looper picked up the save, pitching 3 scoreless innings and striking out 6.

Offensively for the JV Indians, Ben Journey was 2-for-4 with a triple, while Nic Rivas and Looper both contributed a double.

The JV Indians will return to action on Tuesday at Florence Christian School in a JV/Varsity doubleheader, with  beginning at 4:00 and 7:00.

Edisto 12, B-E 1

The JV Cougars picked up a win on Monday, with Logan Wolfe picking up the win with 4 innings of work, allowing just 5 walks, 4 hits and an earned run, against 3 strikeouts.

Offensively for Edisto, Michael Parham was 1-for-1 with a run scored and an RBI; Nick Ulmer was 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI; Sam Dempsey was 1-for-1 with 3 walks and 3 runs scored; Hayden McGugan was 1-for-2 with an RBI and 2 runs scored; and Weathers Sanders was 1-for-2 with and RBI and 2 runs scored.


Edisto 8, OP 5

Orangeburg Prep fell to 1-2 on the season Monday night, losing to Edisto by an 8-5 score in a game played at OP.

Offensively, Gunnar Altman was 2-for-2 on the night for the B-Team Indians, while Austin Hall, Blake Croft, and Bryson Williams each contributed a base hit.


Hillcrest Men's Golf

Association event

The Hillcrest Men's Golf Association will have a 2-man captain's choice tournament on Saturday, March 23 at Hillcrest Golf Club.

To participate, golfers need to sign up in the Hillcrest pro shop or call (803) 533-6030 by Friday, March 22.

All participating 2-man teams must have a combined handicap of 18 or higher.
