Calhoun County 16, Cross 0

The Lady Saints of Calhoun County shut out Cross 16-0 on Wednesday.

Winning pitcher was Zailee Edward's with 5 strikeouts.

Leading hitters for CC were Zailee Edwards 3-5 2 RBI; Shamya Smith 3-4, 3 RBI; Annabelle Craven 2-4, 4 RBI; Belle Spires 1-2, 2 RBI; KatieRae Croxton, Aubrey Broadway each with 2 hits.

The Lady Saints play Thursday at Eau Claire at 6 p.m.

Branchville 8, Edisto 7

The Branchville Lady Jackets came away with an 8-7 victory over the Edisto Lady Cougars on Wednesday.

Branchville led early on a two-run homer from Olivia Banks.

Edisto battled back to tie the score in the 5th on a two-run double from Ashlee Shaffer.

In the top of the seventh, Faith Hughes hit a two-run homer to put the Lady Jackets up for good.

Destyne Lytle got the win for Branchville.

Amanda Weathersbee collected two hits for Branchville.

Leading hitter for Edisto was Chloe Moorer with three hits.

Branchville is 12-4 on year.

Branchville host Scott’s Branch on Thursday for Senior Night.


Calhoun Academy 17, Thomas Sumter 1

DALZELL - Calhoun Academy's two pitchers didn't allow a hit and the Cavaliers took a 17-1 win at Thomas Sumter Academy on Wednesday.

Bates Felder led Calhoun Academy to victory by driving in four runs. He went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Matt Layton earned the victory for CA, going 3 innings, allowing one run and striking out 7. Seth Tyson pitched one inning in relief.

Calhoun Academy racked up 15 hits in the game.

Layton, Connor Brinson, Blake Edmunds, Felder, Wells Fleming, and Heath LaChance each managed multiple hits for Calhoun Academy. Layton went 3-for-4 at the plate.

CA is 8-2 overall (5-0 in region) and plays at home on Friday against Williamsburg at 6:30 p.m.

Branchville 15, Williston-Elko 0

It only took four innings for Branchville to top Williston-Elko by a 15-0 score on Wednesday.

The Yellow Jackets (13-1 overall, 6-0 in region play) were led on the mound by Heston Thompson, who improved to 3-1 on the season with the win. He allowed just one hit, while striking out 5 in 4 innings of work.

Leading hitters for Branchville were Jesse Smoak 2-2, triple, 3 RBI; Hunter Wimberly 2-3, 2 RBI; Zach Wiles 1-2, RBI; Hunter Bauer 1-2, RBI; Heston Thompson 1-2, 3 RBI; Bubba Lytle 1-2, 2 RBI.

Branchville hosts Scott's Branch on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in a Region 5-A doubleheader.

Pelion 13, Edisto 8

CORDOVA - Edisto saw a comeback fall short at home on Wednesday, losing 13-8 to Region 5-3A foe Pelion.

Edisto collected 13 hits to Pelion's 14 hits.

Pelion led 10-0 after 3 innings of play, before Edisto plated 8 runs in its final 4 at-bats.

Brett Rodgers shouldered the loss, lasting 1-and-a-third innings, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits. Sam Dempsey and Josh Goins each pitched in relief.

Will Rickenbaker, Brett R, Skye Foster, and McGugan each managed multiple hits for Edisto Cougars Varsity. Rickenbaker led the way, going 3-for-4.


OP tops Pinewood

The OPS Indians topped Pinewood Prep at Pine Forest Country Club in a non-region contest on Wednesday.

Corey Antley and Harris Holstein posted 41s and Riley Robinson shot a 43 with Matthew Zeigler carding a 45.

The Indians host Region 2-3A opponents Thursday at Orangeburg Country Club at 3:30 p.m.


Calhoun Academy 9, Thomas Sumter 1

DALZELL - Calhoun Academy took a 9-1 win at Thomas Sumter Academy on Wednesday.

The Cavaliers are now 3-4-1 on the season.

CA's Connor Hayes pitched 6-and-2-thirds innings and struck out 11, while only allowing one hit for the win.

Hayes also led the Cavaliers at the plate, going 3-for-5 with 2 RBI. Alex Miller was 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Lukas Reed and Cade Carson were each 1-for-1.

CA plays at home on Friday at 4 p.m. against Williamsburg Academy.


Pinewood Prep 15, OP 0

Pinewood Prep shut out OP on Wednesday, by a 15-0 score.

Leading hitters for the B-Team Indians were Tadd Jameson, Gunnar Altman, and Kyle Cooper.

The B-Team Indians will travel to Hampton on Thursday to play the North District B-Team in Varnville at 4:45 p.m.
