MANNING – Brayden Osteen (Laurence Manning) pitched all seven innings, allowing just two hits, to lead Manning-Santee Post 68 to a 2-1 League 3/4 home win against Orangeburg Post 4 on Tuesday night at Manning Legion Field.
Osteen, who recently signed to play baseball at Francis Marion University for former Calhoun Academy standout Art Inabinet, struck out two and allowed just one walk to pick up the win on the mound.
Post 4 (3-5 overall) dropped its second league game of the week, having lost 6-0 at Sumter against Post 15 on Monday.
Manning-Santee posted seven hits in the contest, with each coming against Hanks Avinger (Holly Hill Academy) who pitched all six innings, shouldering the loss for Post 4. Avinger struck out 5 and walked none, but surrendered the two earned runs.
Orangeburg posted the first run of the game, scoring in the third inning. Daniel Williams (Calhoun County) led off being hit by a pitch before stealing second base and then scoring from second on a two-out single by Andrew Isgett (Calhoun County).
Manning-Santee then evened the score in the fifth inning as Dusty Hancock delivered a one-out single, took second on a passed ball and then scored from second on a full-count single by Dalton Page.
The 1-1 tie was broken in the bottom of the sixth as Morgan Morris posted a two-out single and then scored on an RBI-single from Caleb Quick.
Manning-Santee made one error while Orangeburg didn't register a miscue.
Noah Bearden (Calhoun County) had the only other hit of the game for Post 4, with a two-out single in the fifth inning.
Luke Stokes went 2-for-3 for Manning-Santee.
Orangeburg is back in action on Thursday at home against Manning-Santee at 7 p.m.
