The nation's top-ranked quarterback made waves Wednesday night when he confirmed what had been reported earlier that he would make his college choice on his mother's birthday, Sunday, May 5.
DJ Uiagalelei, according to Greg Biggins, is a "big, strong-armed quarterback with generational arm strength. Has a big frame, but looks lean and is well put together. Has one of the strongest arms in recent memory and has won ‘long ball’ contests with a throw of 80+ yards. Is much more than a big arm.
"Shows great touch, accuracy to all three levels of the field and great natural feel for throwing the football. Understands when to take a little off, throws with anticipation and is a plus athlete as well. Has the ability to run zone read and is a very good runner in the open field. Can buy time and is accurate throwing down the field rolling out to his right or his left. Natural leader and a great teammate who is also a potential high round draft pick in Major League Baseball."
While Uiagalelei made some Tiger fans nervous with his most recent trip to Oregon, the belief is that Sunday will be a great day to be a Tiger.
According to 247's crystal ball projections, the Tigers hold a 87 percent chance of landing the nation's top quarterback.
The Tigers made their final pitch to Uiagalelei Monday, as coaches visited him at his California high school, St. John Bosco.
If the Tigers land Uiagalelei, the Tigers would overtake LSU and Alabama and move into the No. 1 spot in the recruiting rankings -- according to 247Sports -- with a projected team score of 260.20
What happened with Brian Bresee?
The Tigers made waves in April with the commitment of five-star, No.1-ranked player in the nation Brian Bresee.
However, it should be noted that he is now the former No. 1-ranked player in the nation, as he dropped to No. 2 in the latest composite rankings from 247Sports.
Bresee still holds the No. 1 spot in 247's rankings, however the composite rankings take into account a variety of recruiting services.
According to 247's website, "The 247Sports Composite Rating is a proprietary algorithm that compiles prospect rankings and ratings listed in the public domain by the major media recruiting services. It converts average industry ranks and ratings into a linear composite index capping at 1.0000, which indicates a consensus No. 1 prospect across all services."
The new composite No.1 player in the nation is running back Zachary Evans (Houston).
