Second generation Clemson golfers Bryson Nimmer and Colby Patton both had rounds of two-under-par 69 on Wednesday to lead Clemson to a one-under par team score of 283 and a third-place finish at the NCAA Austin Regional at the University of Texas Golf Course in Austin, Texas.

Clemson is one of five teams in the 14-team field that qualified for the NCAA National Tournament in Fayetteville, Arkansas, May 24-29.

Host school Texas won the regional easily with an 827 score, 25-under par. TCU was second at 847, while Clemson was third at 851, one-under-par. Clemson had scores of 284-284-283 over the three rounds, and joined Texas as the only teams to shoot par or better each day.

NEWBERRY – One of the most challenging events in all of collegiate athletics begins on Thursday in Newberry, as the Newberry College Wolves host the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.

No. 2 seed Newberry has alreday won a school-record 41 games this season, capturing the first-ever regular season conference championship.

Newberry posted the fourth-highest SAC winning percentage in conference history, going 21-3 in conference games.

Newberry is Top 20 in 12 statistical categories, including 6th most runs scored (431), 7th most hits (554), and 9th most stolen bases (121).

Prior to this season, Newberry's best postseason finish was seventh at the 1977 NAIA World Series.

COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team closes out the 2019 regular season this weekend in Starkville, Miss., as the Gamecocks face No. 5 Mississippi State at Dudy Noble Field.

The series begins Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The two teams then face each other Friday at 7:30 p.m. and conclude play Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. All three games will be streamed on SEC Network +.
