• Sophomore outfielder Michael Green missed almost two months due to injury, but he has returned to start in the outfield. He is hitting .258 with four doubles, two homers, eight RBI, 17 runs, a .372 on-base percentage and three steals in 20 games (19 starts). Since returning, he is 8-for-21 (.381) with three doubles, a homer, four RBI, nine runs and a .480 on-base percentage in six games. He has hit safely in each of the six games he has played since returning from injury.

Gamecocks to

host USC Upstate

COLUMBIA - The University of South Carolina baseball team plays its final home game of the 2019 season on Tuesday, as the Gamecocks welcome USC Upstate to Founders Park. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The game will be streamed on SEC Network + with Burch Antley and Kip Bouknight on the call. All games will be broadcast on The Game 107.5 FM and the Gamecock Sports Network with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call.

Carolina took 2-of-3 games from Kentucky this past weekend, winning 5-4 on Friday night before cruising to an 11-3 win on Saturday.

Coming off picking up a pair of saves in the series win over Kentucky, Gamecock pitcher Brett Kerry has been named the Southeastern Conference Baseball Freshman of the Week, it was announced Monday by the league office.


Carolina has won all 12 meetings with USC Upstate.


Carolina ends the regular season this weekend, heading to Starkville, Miss., to face Mississippi State. The series starts Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

Staley's team set for Paradise Jam

COLUMBIA - South Carolina head women's basketball coach Dawn Staley's team is one of eight competing in the 2019 Paradise Jam, the organizers announced Monday. The Gamecocks will play in the Reef Tournament against Indiana, Washington State and reigning national champion Baylor on Nov. 28-30, at the University of the Virgin Islands' Sports and Fitness Center in St. Thomas.

It will be South Carolina's fourth trip to the Paradise Jam, including three under Staley. The Gamecocks are 6-2 all-time at the event, after winning the 2012 Reef Division championship and posting their first victory over a ranked team under Staley in the 2009 event. The 2019 visit to St. Thomas will bring Class of 2019 signee Aliyah Boston back to her home town for the first time as a collegiate athlete.

USC's Stevens semifinalist

for Jack Nicklaus Award

NORMAN, Okla. - Senior Scott Stevens was named one of 30 semifinalists for the 2019 Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Barbasol on Monday the Golf Coaches Association of America announced.

Recipients will be announced May 30 with the honor presented by Jack Nicklaus at a ceremony during the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

Stevens, who led the 17th-ranked Gamecocks with a first round 67 (-3) Monday at the NCAA Pullman Regional, has been consistent from start to finish during the 2018-19 season. He leads the team with a 70.59 scoring average, nine top-20 finishes in 10 regular season starts and 23 rounds of par or better.

PULLMAN, Wash. - No. 17 South Carolina opened play at the NCAA Pullman Regional on Monday with a 5-under 275. The Gamecocks are tied for sixth place with Florida, UCLA and Purdue heading into round two, just six shots off the lead.

The top five teams in the 14-team field competing in the 54-hole regional will advance to the NCAA National Championship Tournament in Fayetteville, Arkansas May 24-27.

AUSTIN, Texas — Kyle Cottam fired a one-under par 70, while Colby Patton and Jacob Bridgeman had even-par rounds of 71 to lead Clemson to an even-par 284 team score and a fifth-place standing after the first of three rounds of the NCAA Austin (Texas) Regional.
