SALISBURY, N.C. - The Claflin University softball team will be looking to finish its inaugural season of Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with a perfect 18-0 conference record when it travels to Salisbury, N.C. Wednesday to face Livingstone College.
The two teams will play in a CIAA Southern Division doubleheader. First pitch for game one is set for 1 p.m., with the second game beginning approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
Claflin, who has its best record under head coach Marty Kinard, brings a 30-15 overall record into the contests. In their last outing, the Lady Panthers dropped a non-conference double header to Limestone College, 1-0 and 8-0.
As a team, Claflin is batting an overall .308 batting average into the double header. The teams batting average improves to .368 during conference only play. The Lady Panthers have amassed 304 runs, 342 hits, including 59 doubles, 24 triples, 24 home runs with 254 RBI.

Senior Kayla Cato continues to lead the Lady Panthers in every offensive statistical category. Cato has accumulated 47 runs with 49 hits, including 13 doubles, 4 triples and 10 home runs, with 50 RBI and an on-base percentage of .465.
Livingstone brings a dismal 0-20 overall record and equally-disappointing 0-12 CIAA record into the doubleheader. In their last outing, the Blue Bears dropped a CIAA Southern Division doubleheader to Johnson C. Smith, 16-1 and 13-0.
Livingstone has 47 runs, 65 hits with a batting average of .190 on the season.
Claflin will close out the regular season against Augusta University at home on Tuesday and at USC Aiken on Wednesday, before heading to its first-ever CIAA postseason tournament, scheduled for Monday-Wednesday, Apr. 29-May 1 at Moyer Park in Salem, Va.
