SALISBURY, N.C. — Joy Okeke recorded a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, but the Claflin women’s basketball team still fell to Livingstone 80-59 in its 2017 season opener.

The Lady Panthers are 0-1 to start the season while Livingstone improves to 1-2.

Dominique Williams was the only other Claflin player to record double-digit points, with a team-high of 20, while adding 8 rebounds.

Livingstone was led by Taylor Perkins with a game-high 24 points. The Blue Bears had three players to eclipse the 20-point mark as Zena Lovette and Kayla Seary each dropped in 20. Lovette also recorded a game-high 11 rebounds.

As a team, Claflin shot 66.7 percent from the charity stripe and 34.9 percent from the field.

Livingstone finished the game shooting 42.5 from the field and 52.6 from the charity stripe.

Claflin will return to action this Saturday, Nov. 18, when they host Florida Tech in Claflin's homecoming game. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. in Tullis Arena.
