The South Carolina State Bulldogs will wait a little later than initially planned to take the field for an opening practice on Friday.

The first session scheduled for 9:30 a.m. has been changed to 2:30 p.m. at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium, S.C. State Sports Information announced.

Visitors may enter the stadium on the visitor's side and may sit in the stands to view practice. No spectators or fans are allowed on the field.

The Bulldogs reported to camp on Thursday in preparation for the 2019 campaign, beginning with Wofford University on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium. Wofford is the preseason pick to win the Southern Conference. S.C. State has been picked sixth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

After Friday's workout, the Bulldogs will conduct their second practice in a 9:30 a.m. session on Saturday with helmets. On Monday, Aug. 5, Pough's team will dress out in shells (shoulder pads, helmets and shorts) at 9:30 a.m. and again Tuesday, Aug. 7, in a 2:30 p.m. workout.

Coach Buddy Pough is entering his 18th season as head coach at S.C. State.

A season ago, the Bulldogs started 0-4, but pushed to get back to 5-5, before falling to North Carolina Central to finish with a 5-6 record.
