South Carolina State will play a 12-game schedule during the 2019 football campaign, the university announced.
The Bulldog slate includes six road games and six home contests at Oliver C. Dawson/Willie Jeffries Field.
Eight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matchups are on the schedule, along with four non-conference opponents, two in-state battles and one Football Bowl Subdivision team.
S.C. States opens the campaign at home on Aug. 31 against intrastate opponent Wofford (Business & Industry Day) before traveling to Clinton to take on Presbyterian College on Sept. 7 at Bailey Memorial Stadium.
Coach Buddy Pough’s team then heads to Tampa, Fla., to take on the only FBS opponent on this year’s schedule, the University of South Florida, on Sept. 14. The contest will be followed by a home game against Miles College on Sept. 21 (Youth/ROTC/Military Appreciation Day).
The Bulldogs get a break with a bye week on Sept. 28 before opening MEAC play on the road against Delaware State on Oct. 5 in Dover. A two-game home stand follows against league foes Florida A&M on Oct. 12 (Former Student-Athlete Appreciation/Breast Cancer Day) and Morgan State on Oct. 19 (HOMECOMING).
S.C. State heads to the Sunshine State for a showdown with Bethune-Cookman on Oct. 26 in Daytona Beach, before returning to Orangeburg to host defending MEAC Champion and two-time Celebration Bowl Champion N.C. A&T State on Nov. 2 (Greek Day) and Howard on Nov. 9 (Senior/High School Band/Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day).
Road games at North Carolina Central on Nov. 16 in Durham, N.C., and Norfolk State on Nov. 23 in Norfolk, Va., close out the regular season for the Bulldogs.
Pough is entering his 18th season at the helm of the football program and needs just four more wins to become the all-time winningest football coach in school history.
