When it comes to outdoor gear, many people want to do the responsible thing and choose items that aren't harmful to the environment. Patagonia feels the same way, and it has worked hard to create products with a low environmental impact.
Its line of Black Hole Packs continues that tradition, using 100% recycled material in the body and lining of its bags. (More than 10 million plastic bottles were spared from the landfill to create the fabrics used in this collection.)
While that's a nice story, the bag still has to perform to make it worth your hard-earned money. With Patagonia's Ultralight Black Hole pack ($79), there's no question that it delivers.
The bag is a tough gear hauler that's as comfortable on the hiking trail as the commuter train or health club. The 20-liter pack provides plenty of space for most day-long adventures, and the easy top-load entry is excellent for bulky items like shoes, wetsuits or climbing gear. The breathable shoulder straps provide a comfortable fit for any body type, and the pack stuffs into its own pocket for convenient storage.
