The first week of May was National Nurses Week. From about 1920 to 1988 the Orangeburg Regional Hospital operated a School of Nursing. Many of these R.N. graduates ended up being nurses in the Orangeburg area. Pictured above is the 1953 graduating class. Left to Right: First Row: Penny Bodiford, Keith Hewitt, Class Mascots. Second Row: Mary McMillan, Joelyn Prevatt, Loretta Bryant, Mary Lee Bilton, Eudell Warren. Third Row: Peggy Kizer, Barbara Jones, Susan Oxford, Geneva Davis. Fourth Row: Reba Pittman, Rose Lee Carney, Blanche Felder. Some of these young ladies even found a husband in Orangeburg. One of these in this class was Reba Pittman, who married Bobby Wactor, who became a longtime businessman here.
