A 52-year-old Midway Street man was arrested on Feb. 1 on multiple charges after police received a tip about a possible drunk driver.
The caller stated that the man left a church with a strong odor of alcohol on him. The complainant gave a description of the vehicle he was driving.
Police located the man driving the white Jeep Patriot in the Bamberg County Public Library parking lot on Railroad Avenue and approached him. After interviewing him and searching his vehicle, they placed him under arrest. He was charged with drug paraphernalia, open container in motor vehicle, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest/failure to comply, driving under suspension, operating uninsured motor vehicle and failure to surrender license plate.
In a separate report, a 36-year-old Rowesville man was arrested on Feb. 5 during a traffic stop for not wearing a seat belt as he was driving 14 mph in a 35-mph zone on U.S. 301. He was charged with driving under suspension, operating an uninsured vehicle, tag registered to another vehicle and seat belt violation.
