An Orangeburg woman is being treated for a gunshot wound she received early Saturday morning.

A man was taken into custody at the scene, but his charges have not yet been announced by law enforcement.

The woman was shot in the stomach at around 12:30 a.m. on the 900 block of Redmon Street, according to an Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The woman called 911 after knocking on the door of a nearby residence and asking for help.

She told deputies the name of the man who allegedly shot her in the stomach. They found the man lying face-down in the roadway and took him into custody.

A motive is not yet known at this time.

Orangeburg County EMS arrived on the scene and transported the woman to the Regional Medical Center.

A deputy requested that a white Lincoln Town Car be transported to the impound lot.

The Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to look into the incident.
