Orangeburg County EMS transported the 24-year-old bicyclist to the Holly Hill Fire Department where a helicopter flew him to Trident Medical Center.
A day after the collision, the S.C. Highway Patrol asked for the public’s help in trying to locate the van.
SCHP Trooper 1st Class Tyler Tidwell said, “The S.C. Highway Patrol identified the owner of the vehicle and he confessed to driving the vehicle and leaving the scene. The driver was interviewed at the Holly Hill Police Department.”
Last week, the Holly Hill Police Department helped locate the vehicle.
“Someone happened to see the description of the vehicle in the media and directed us towards a body shop that had the suspect’s vehicle,” Tidwell said.
