A 9-year-old Williston boy died in a hunting accident on Thanksgiving Day, according to several media outlets.
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources confirmed Colton Williams' death, according to Augusta-based WRDW-TV.
SCDNR said the incident is under investigation.
According to Williams’ obituary, he was a fourth-grade student at Kelly Edwards Elementary School in the Williston School District.
"It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of one of our beloved fourth-grade KEES scholars, Colton Williams," the Willison School District wrote in a Facebook post.

The post said, "Please join in with the KEES/Williston School District 29 family as we lift the family in prayer.
"Counselors will be on-site at KEES Monday morning, and will continue to be available throughout the week and longer if needed."
According to his obituary, Williams was a Clemson Tiger fan, loved playing sports and was chosen to play on the all-star football team for the Williston Recreational League.
Williams also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and playing the piano.
Williams' funeral will be held Sunday at First Baptist Church in Springfield. Burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery.
