BAMBERG -- The estranged wife of a Bamberg minister has been charged with murder in his death.

Elder Frank McNair died at his Spring Branch Road home on Oct. 1 in what authorities called an apparent murder-suicide attempt. He had been shot in the chest with a pistol.

His wife, Annie McNair, was taken to a Columbia-area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

On Monday, the State Law Enforcement Division announced it charged 70-year-old Annie McNair of Garden City, Georgia, with murder in his death.

Frank McNair was formerly pastor at Holy Temple Church of God in Christ in Bamberg. Most recently, he served as an elder at St. Noah Church of God in Christ in Aiken.
