Temperatures will soar to near 100 degrees this weekend, but it’s going to be a little easier to find a place to cool off.
National Weather Service meteorologist Rachel Cobb says the holiday weekend can be described in one word: hot.
Saturday’s high temperature is forecast to be 99 degrees, with a heat index of 101.
On Sunday, the high temperature is expected to reach 100. It will feel like 103 degrees.
Monday’s high is expected to reach 101, but it will only feel like 100 since the weather will be drier.
Cobb says people should “try to alternate between sun and shade, make sure to drink lots of water, don’t drink alcohol since that will compound heat stress and wear sunscreen since it’s going to be sunny.”
She also recommends keeping children out of the heat, since they’ll get hotter faster.
If you have children, double-check to ensure you didn’t leave them in your back seat. And lock your door when you get out so they can’t climb back in.
