SLED

A Walterboro man is facing a voluntary manslaughter charge in the death of Johnny Williams on Sept. 6 in Ehrhardt, according to S.C. Law Enforcement Division Public Information Director Tommy Crosby.

Agents took Willie Charles Lamont Jones, 41, into custody on Saturday.

SLED is investigating the case at the request of the Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office, Crosby said.

Jones allegedly “did unlawfully kill Johnny Williams, by stabbing Williams with a knife and causing Williams’ death,” according to an affidavit of SLED Lt. Charles M. Brown.

The incident happened at 202 Cabbage Road in Ehrhardt.

If convicted, Jones faces between two and 30 years in prison.

The 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office is prosecuting the case.
