South Carolina State University police are investigating a shooting incident on campus.

The university sent out an alert at 2:30 a.m. Friday alerting students that a shooting occurred on campus at Hugine Suites near the K Building. The university was on lockdown, but that has been lifted.

WIS-TV spoke to a 20-year-old junior who was shot in the foot.

She was treated and released.

“It was scary because it could have been worse. I could have either been paralyzed if it hit the wrong spot,” she said. Her question now is what the campus will do about security.
