The S.C. Department of Transportation announced a change in the stop control at the intersection of U.S. 601 (McCords Ferry Road) and S.C. 263 (Vanboklen Road) in Richland County as part of the intersection improvement project.

The U.S. 601-S.C. 263 Intersection Improvement project is a staged construction project to build a roundabout intersection.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 22, the all-way stop control at this intersection will be changed to a yield condition and traffic will be shifted to the new roundabout intersection alignment.

Advanced warning changeable message boards have been installed to notify road users of this change.

Upon this change, work will begin on the construction of the concrete truck apron in the center of the roundabout and concrete islands at each approach.

The final surface will be placed after completion of the concrete work. Road users should expect periodic lane closures in the coming weeks to facilitate this work.

The projected completion date is Nov. 30.

For more information concerning this project, the public may contact SCDOT Resident Construction Engineer Derek Frick at 803-786-0706.

Please use caution in work zones.
