Don’t pinch the Charmin. That’s the bottom line from the monthly meeting of Eutawville Town Council on Tuesday, May 14.
Mayor Brandon Weatherford said the town routinely waives the $100 fee for having exclusive use of the gazebo in the village park on Porcher Avenue, but that might have to change. He said some individuals and groups take care to clean up the park after they use it. But others don’t.
“We’re at the point we need to start charging somebody to cover our costs,” he said. The costs include mowing the grass and maintaining the gazebo and restrooms.

In particular, the mayor said toilet paper is disappearing from the restrooms almost as fast as town employees resupply it. He said the town might have to buy lockable dispensers.
The town voted to impose a $25 fee for individuals and groups that wish to reserve exclusive use of the gazebo. The fee can be waived at the discretion of town officials. Weatherford said the issue might be revisited in a future council meeting.
