Hercules Davis

Coach Hercules Davis Jr. has returned to Denmark-Olar High School to coach varsity boys basketball team.

Davis previously served as Vikings coach, including during the 2004-2005 state championship season.

Davis is a graduate of Sarah J. Hale High School in Brooklyn, New York, and Voorhees College in Denmark.

Branchville sweeps

tri-match at B-B

BOWMAN – The Yellow Jackets (16-3-3, 6-0 in Region 5-A) swept tri-match contests with both C.E. Murray and Bethune-Bowman on Tuesday.

Branchville won by set scores of 25-8 and 25-8 against C.E. Murray and by set scores of 25-15 and 25-10 against Bethune-Bowman.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Danielle McAlhany with 7 kills, Carley Kinard with 5 kills, 13 aces, Abby Funchess with 12 aces, 20 assists, Kelsey Kinard with 6 kills, 3 blocks, 3 digs, and Anna Smith with 17 digs and 12 receptions.

Branchville plays at home on Thursday against C.E. Murray at 6 p.m.

SUMTER – OP took a road win against Wilson Hall on Tuesday, winning 4 singles matches.

COLUMBIA – O-W swept a win at Dreher on Tuesday, with set wins of 25-19 and 25-9.

The JV Bruinettes were led by Mykah Sanders with 11 service points and 7 assists, while Katlin Ham had 7 service points, an ace and 3 assists, Laila Ham and Morgan Hughes had 4 service points each, and Abrianna Shuler had 3 service points.

O-W is 9-1 and plays Thursday at home against A.C. Flora.
