ROWESVILLE — Rowesville Town Council members discussed spring plans at February’s meeting.

Mayor Paul Bishop has said that he plans on having a Rowesville booth at the Orangeburg Festival of Roses, held May 5-6 at Edisto Memorial Gardens. He said plans on having historic signs there and discussing the history of various locations, such as the schoolhouses and general store that he plans to restore and turn into a local museum.

Bishop and Councilwoman Amber Heyward also discussed the possibility of having a second Rowesville River Run. After discussion, the two set a tentative date of May 25. Council will vote upon the matter at the next meeting.

“I’m for the River Run,” Bishop said, adding that he wishes to see it happen to help bring attention to Rowesville. If approved, council will begin looking for possible vendors and sponsors for the event and will to begin to sell tickets.

The council’s next regular meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 4 at the Rowesville Community Center, 125 Park St.
