ROWESVILLE -- Chester Walling Jr., 66, of Rowesville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at Lexington Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the Thompson Funeral Home chapel in Orangeburg, with burial in Briar Creek Cemetery, 3957 Heritage Highway, Bamberg, with the Rev. Danny Fogle officiating.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Blewer, Marvin Bonnette, Stephen Bonnette, Bert Bozard, Walter Cook, O'Neal Davis and James Smoak.
Mr. Chester was born Sept. 19, 1953, in North; the son of the late Chester Walling and the late Mary L. Cook Walling-Wingard. He was retired from the Orangeburg School Bus Maintenance Shop. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved the mountains and going to Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, James “Jim” Wingard, and by his father-in-law; Jarol E. “Fox” Fogle.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Paula Fogle Walling of the home; a daughter, Shanell Walling Blewer (Kevin) of Orangeburg; five grandchildren, Ashlin Blewer, Ainsley Blewer, Warren Blewer, Wyatt Blewer and Tristan Blewer; a sister, Angela Diane Walling Frady of Goldsboro, North Carolina; two brothers, Richard “Ricky” Walling (Delores) of Columbia and Bobby Walling of Cope; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Brenda Fogle of Rowesville; mother-in-law, Nell Steedly Fogle of Rowesville; a special niece, Kayla Fogle Stroman (Evan) of Lexington; two stepsisters, Gertrude Wingard Rogers (Shakey) of Gaston and Ann Marie Wingard Derochemont of Killeen, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the funeral home.
