A person was killed in a Sunday afternoon crash in Orangeburg County.
The collision occurred at 5:50 p.m. on U.S. Highway 21 near Dock Road, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Matt Southern.
A 2019 Nissan was traveling south on U.S. 21 when it crossed the center line. A 2013 Jeep that was traveling north took evasive action by moving to the right, but was struck by the Nissan, Southern said.
The driver of the Nissan was trapped in the vehicle and died in the accident. The driver, who was the only occupant of the Nissan, was not wearing a seatbelt.
The name of the driver was not immediately available.
The Jeep’s driver and two passengers were all wearing seatbelts. They were taken to the Regional Medical Center with injuries that aren’t considered life threatening.

In addition, the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has identified the people killed in Friday night’s crash in the Santee area.
Josephine Walker, 75, of Sassy Circle, Holly Hill, and Warren J. Bennett Jr., 76, of Bamboo Drive, Charleston, died of injuries sustained in the head-on crash.
The collision happened at 10:10 p.m. on Bass Drive near Friendship Road.
A 2005 Toyota Camry was travelling north on Bass Drive when it attempted to pass another vehicle. It struck a 2001 Camry head-on.
The drivers of Toyotas were trapped in their vehicles and died at the scene. Both were wearing seatbelts and were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
The Highway Patrol is investigating the crashes.
