A person died Sunday after being injured in a crash early Saturday morning, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Trooper 1st Class Tyler Tidwell.
The crash occurred at 3 a.m. Saturday near the corner of North Road and Shillings Bridge Road, about three miles west of Orangeburg.
A 2002 Cadillac Escalade was traveling west on North Road when it ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment.
The vehicle overturned several times.
The driver was transported to the Regional Medical Center and, later, to Prisma Health Richland Hospital.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The name of the driver was not immediately available.

There have now been 12 deaths on Orangeburg County’s roads since the beginning of the year. There were eight during the same period last year.
There have been two fatalities on Calhoun County’s roads so far this year. There were none during the same period last year.
There have been no fatal crashes in Bamberg County so far this year, as during the same period last year.
Across South Carolina, 237 people have died in 220 crashes so far this year. During the same period last year, 263 people died in 245 crashes.
