ST. GEORGE – Master Sgt. William Davis "Billy" Murray (USAF, Ret.), 83, of St. George, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Trident Medical Center.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Bryant Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the home of Cathi Murray, 301 Central Ave., St. George.
Billy ("KRJ") was born Dec. 25, 1935, in St. George, a son of the late Jefferson Davis and Laurie Wimberly Murray Rickenbaker. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving his country for 23 years. He was part of the crew that worked on the SR71 Blackbird, along with being awarded a Bronze Star during his tour in Vietnam. He, as well, retired from Holcim Cement Company. He was a member and past commander of St. George American Legion Post 105, life member of Eutawville VFW Post 10980, 308th A&E Squadron, TREH The Enlisted Association and Indian Field United Methodist Church. He was a proud American, a wonderful father and a loving and amazing grandfather and a devoted friend. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Carol Murray Connelly, and his stepfather, Otis Rickenbaker.
Surviving are his son, Steven D. (Janet) Murray of Easley; a daughter, Deborah M. (John) Paquet of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; grandchildren Brandon Davis Murray, Caroline Ann Murray and Shelby Nicole Paquet; and a brother, Kenny Murray.
