Ms. Butler

 Ms. Vera Butler, 97, of Auburn, Alabama, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at her son John L. Butler's residence surrounded by loved ones.

Ms. Butler was born Dec. 23, 1919. She was the maternal grandmother of Mayor Michael C. Butler, City of Orangeburg, and his sister Mrs. Lisa Butler James, both of whom are employed with Orangeburg Consolidated School District Five. Mayor Butler is also known as Suffragan Bishop Michael C. Butler, pastor and founder of  Victory Tabernacle Deliverance Temple, PAW, and serves as chairman of the South Carolina State Council of the 24th Episcopal District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Inc. His sister, also known as First Lady Lisa James, is married to Suffragan Bishop Rodney James, who pastors Greater Zion Tabernacle Church in Florence and is employed with South Carolina State University, 1890 Research and Extension. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Bell Baptist Church, 348 Foster St., Auburn, Alabama. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Donald Trimble Mortuary, 1876 Second Ave., Decatur, Georgia.

Wake services will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Faith Temple Baptist Church, 341 Hill St. SE, Atlanta.
