Robert M. "Bobo" Grimes, 59, of 352 Long Crane Road, Johnston, formerly of Denmark, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at his residence in Johnston.
Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m. in the Voorhees College Gym, Denmark. The burial will follow with military honors in the Eden Baptist Church, Denmark. Viewing will take place on Friday, Dec. 16, from 12 to 8 p.m. in the Denmark Chapel of the Carroll Mortuary, Denmark.
Born July 8, 1957, to Chennie Mae Grimes and the late Monroe Grimes in Bamberg, “Bobo” was educated in the public schools of Bamberg County and was a graduate of Denmark-Olar High School, Class of 1975. He served his country with honors while in the S.C. National Guard from which he retired with 22 years of service. He was employed with SCE&G as a Lineman Supervisor until his health began to fail. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, cooking and most of all riding his Harley-Davidson. He was an expert at wood carving, (pipes and walking canes).
Bobo was united in holy matrimony to the former Sharon Dean and was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon of the home; daughters, Robin (Will) Simmons of Aiken, and Sheree Ware of Johnston; sons Gary (Sandra) Grimes of Augusta, and Damian Dean of Johnston; brothers, Jerome (Kenisha) Grimes of Orangeburg, Chief Leroy ( Denise) Grimes of Denmark, Derrick (Sandra) Grimes of Manassas, Virginia; sisters, Marilyn (Melvin) Ransom of Orangeburg, Charlene Bellinger of Watertown, New York and Tarea (Paris) Mason of Aiken; brother-in-law, Donell (Carolyn) Dean of Johnston, and sister-in-law Goldie Holland of Aiken.
The Denmark Chapel of the Carroll Mortuary will be in charge of the services. Friends may call at the residence in Johnston and at the home of his mother Chennie Mae Grimes ,59 Hagood Ave. Denmark.
