Funeral services for Randy L. Green, 64, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, formerly of Denmark, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Greater Sweet Branch Baptist Church, Govan. The burial will follow in Bamberg County Memory Gardens.

He died Saturday, Oct. 29, at his residence,

He was born Dec. 15, 1951, to the late George and Nazarene Daniels Green in Bamberg County. At an early age, he joined Sweet Branch Baptist Church, where he served as a choir member and usher and also as a delegate for the Sunday school conventions for the Bethlehem Association. Randy was a 1970 graduate of Denmark-Olar High School and went on to further his education at St. Paul College in Orange, Virginia, graduating with a BS in history. Randy joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he retired as a captain in 1984. On May 25, 1974, he married the love of his life, the former Helen Odom, and to this union, two sons was born. Randy worked in many capacities: a restaurant owner, an apartment property manager and later retiring as a social studies teacher for Jones Middle in Onslow County, North Carolina. Randy was a member of Jacksonville Country Club, Phi Lambda Lambda Grad Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and Mount Horeb Masonic Lodge #73, all of Jacksonville.

Surviving are a lloving wife of 42 years, Helen Odom Green of the home; two sons, Randy (Anita) Green Jr. and Ryan Green, both of Jacksonville; a sister, Linda (George) Bingley of Round O,; two grandsons, Cameron Hill and Randy Green III; mother-in-law Birdell Odom Hughes of Denmark; and his two best friends, Anderson Flinn of Atlanta and Leroy Chevis of Jacksonville.

The Denmark Chapel of Carroll Mortuary will be in charge of the services.

The family will be greeting friends at the church fellowship hall after the burial.
