ELLOREE -- Patricia "Patsy" Deer Jones, 88, of Elloree, passed away at her home Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019. She was the widow of the late John Paul Jones.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elloree, with interment to follow at Santee Cemetery, Highway 6, Elloree.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Patsy (Papoo to her grandchildren) was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Bamberg County to the union of the late William Jacob Deer and the late Eunice Sanders Deer. She was a graduate of Elloree High School and Winthrop College, was an educator for many years, and retired from the South Carolina public schools.

Survivors include her son, John William (Karen) Jones of Salisbury, N.C.; daughter, LeeAnne Jones Weeks of Charleston; daughter, Suzy Jones (Charles) Coleman of St. Matthews; grandchildren, Krystal (Chris) Zeigler, Shane (Kim) Weks, Laurel Coleman, Rachel Jones and Ryan Jones; great-grandchildren, Megan, Will, Fischer and Houston; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Miriam Deer, and a great-granddaughter, Madison.
The family expresses sincere thanks to all for prayers, visits, cards and countless acts of kindness as well as special thanks to her loving caregivers of recent months: Margie Amerson, Pam Crisp, Jo Etheridge, Georgia Moseley, KirstinParham and Barbara Rivers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, the Elloree Museum, Homestead Hospice or a charity of one's choice.
