Milton L. Hampton

ST. MATTHEWS -- Funeral services for Milton L. Hampton, 61, of 601 Dantzler St., will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at Beulah Refuge Tabernacle, 469 Landfill Road, Orangeburg, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Bishop David Smith is officiating.

Mr. Hampton will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Hampton passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg.

He was born in Orangeburg and was a son of the late Rev. Railly Pat and Eartha Hampton. Brother Hampton graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark, New Jersey. After graduation, he joined the group Band King Goody and the House Rockers as a bass guitarist. He was also employed with United Parcel Service in Union, New Jersey.

After returning to Orangeburg in 1995, he attended Orangeburg-Calhoun Tech, receiving a certificate in small engine repair.

Music was his passion; he was bass guitarist to the band at Beulah Refuge Tabernacle, where he participated in praise and worship and responding to the Preached Word of God.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley, Larry and Roger Hampton, and his sister, Rose Kingsbery.

He is survived by his brothers, Virgil Hampton of Newark and Willie C. (Glorious) Hampton, and sister-in-law, Helen Hampton, all of Orangeburg; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory of Orangeburg.

Family and friends may call at the residence of his wife, Mrs. Ruthel Copeland, 146 Seminole Drive, Orangeburg, or the funeral home.
