In the spring, Mr. Hughes enjoyed planting a garden but was often teased about watching it grow. He also enjoyed cooking, dancing, fishing and just being happy, always smiling, laughing, joking. Mac was Mac anytime you saw him.
Survivors are his mother, Susie Hughes (David McCollum); daughters Amanda Boltin and Stephanie Hughes; a sister, Cornelia Hughes Burke (August) of Texas; and a brother, Wayne Hughes of Alabama. Mac only had one grandchild Kellie Evans (Dillon). Other survivors include a niece, Susan Zelenuk; two nephews, Michael Zelenuk and Allen Hughes; two aunts, Virginia Shaw and Nelda Green; and an uncle, James Davis.
