Funeral services for Ms. Kendra Rochelle Stewart, 17, of 114 Stewart Road, Branchville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Union Baptist Church, Bamberg.
The casket will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Bamberg Memory Gardens.
She died Saturday, July 16, as the result of an auto accident.
She was born Jan. 21, 1994, in Orangeburg to Orient C. Cochran and Wayman N. Ransom. At an early age, she gave her life to the Lord by being baptized in Free Gift Baptist Church, Branchville. Kendra was a rising senior at Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School and was to graduate with honors. She was a proud member of the Bamberg-Ehrhardt varsity cheerleading squad, the Free Gift Youth Choir, Beta Club, the journalism and photography club and Future Business Leaders of America. Kendra was employed part-time by Tobul Accumalator Inc. of Bamberg.
Surviving are a loving mother, Orient C. Cochran of the home; father, Wayman (Eartha) N. Ransom of Bamberg; three brothers, Byron D. Stewart (Nicole) of Ehrhardt, Shannon M. Ransom of Columbia and Markese A. Cochran of the home; three sisters, Rasheda C. Smalls and Jasmine C. Ransom, both of Bamberg, and Cierra L. Cochran of the home; maternal grandfather, Ezra Lee Stewart of Branchville; paternal grandparents, Frank and Queenie E. Ransom of Bamberg; two special aunts, Annette (John E.) Hill of Branchville and Debra Rivers of Bamberg; godmother, Ruthie Sanders of Denmark; godfather, Samuel L. Summers III (Shawanda) of Sumter; a niece, Tre'viana N. Smalls; and a nephew, Nehemiah Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Free Gift Baptist Church's Youth Program, 5224 Edisto River Road, Branchville.
Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg will be in charge of the services. The family will be greeting friends at the fellowship hall of the Union Baptist Church, at the burial and at the residence.
