Harold W. Mikel, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016.
Harold was born in Danville, Illinois, a son of the late Delbert W. Mikel and Myrtle Maxine Ritter Mikel. He was retired from the United States Navy after serving 22 years of submarine service. He was a former police chief for the town of Branchville, and worked for the city of Charleston as a motorcycle police officer for 15 years and state constable for MUSC for seven years. He loved to hunt and fish and was the widower of the late Mary Alice Mikel.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon Saturday, Feb. 6, at Mount Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery in Bowman, with the Rev. Cory Leggett officiating.
He is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Ann Mikel of Ridgeville, Michelle Mikel Alexander of Ladson and Melinda Sue Cates (Cris) of Hanahan; six grandchildren, Daniel L. Mikel, Chelsea Davis Mikel, Chelsea L. Trotter, Aaron R. Cates, Justin W. Alexander and Mary N. Cates; and three great grandchildren.
