BAMBERG -- Funeral services for Ellanora Lizzie Joyner Barnwell, 80, of 107 Capernaum Road, will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at 1 p.m. in the Orange Grove United Methodist Church, Bamberg. The burial will follow in the Bamberg Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Barnwell died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 22, 1938, to the late Sidney and Flossie Joyner in Bamberg. Ellanora was a member of the Orange Grove United Methodist Church, here she served on the Women's Choir and The Usher Board. She received her education in Bamberg County and worked in various customer service positions with in the area. In 1997 she and her son James Jr. “ Pam “ started B&B Family Kitchen and Catering Service, located in B&B Grocery Store. She was not only a source of good food, good conversation and most of all a motherly love for her customers. Ellanora was married to the late James H. Barnwell Sr., to this union seven children were born.
Survivors her children, James H. “PAM” (Ernestine) Barnwell Jr. and Craig L Barnwell of Bamberg, Joanne B Freeman of the home, Edward L (Janet) Barnwell of Houston, Texas, Janice Y. Barnwell of Jersey City, New Jersey; seven sisters, Wilhelmenia (Willie) Priester, Erma Stephens, Richardell (Hosea) Limehouse and Sadie Memminger, all of Bamberg, Josephine Duncan of Denmark, Gwendolyn (Keever) Folk of Ehrhardt, and Flossie ( David ) Stevenson of Columbia; sisters-in-law, Lucinda Harley and Eva Barnwell; brother-in-law, Clifton ( Norma ) Jordan Jr.; all of Bamberg; a loving daughter-in-law, Myrtes Barnwell of Bamberg; a special niece, Tarshua T (Christopher) Mack of Orangeburg, who was raised in the home; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; and a special senior companion and friend, Deloris (Edward) Irving of Denmark.
The Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg will be in charge of the services.
