Demetrius Lamont Odom Sr., 40, of Atlanta, formerly of Bamberg, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, in Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Union Baptist Church, Bamberg. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born Aug. 19, 1974, to Charles Sr. and Geneva Folk Odom in Bamberg County, Lamont was educated in the public schools of Bamberg County. He was a 1992 graduate of Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School, where he was known for his charming personality and basketball skills. After graduating, he went on to attend DeVry University and then to Denmark Technical College. Demetrius became a master barber. He later decided to change professions and become a truck driver. He drove for various trucking companies along the east coast until his passing. At an early age, he joined Union Baptist Church, where he attended until present. Lamont also served his country with honor while in the U.S. Army. On Sept 1, 1996, he was joined in holy matrimony to the former Vicki Cobb, and to this union, three children were born.

Surviving are a loving wife, Vicki Odom of the home; three sons, Demetrius Lamont Odom Jr., Jamal Malik Odom and Justin Bernard Odom, all of Atlanta; his father and mother, Charles Sr. and Geneva Odom of Bamberg; a brother, Charles Malik Odom Jr. of Bamberg; a sister, Shaqweeta Latrice Glover of Columbia; and a father-in-law, Phillip Cobb of Atlanta.
Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg will be in charge of the services.
Friends may call at the home of his mother, Geneva Odom, 97 Salty Road, Bamberg, and at the church fellowship hall after the burial.
